John W. Dick's Obituary
Mr. John W. Dick, age 90, passed away Tuesday evening, October 8, 2013 at an area hospital. He was born April 18, 1923 in Muskegon to John and Dora (Hamm) Dick. John served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He married the former Betty Kieft on May 10, 1944 and she preceded him in death on March 29, 2000. On May 29, 2009, John married Jacqueline Borton and she survives him. John was an accountant and owned and operated a tax preparation business in the Muskegon area for many, many years. He was a member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents, National Association of Tax Preparers, American Legion #9 Merritt Lamb Post, V.F.W. Post #3256 in Montague, and the 87th Infantry Division Association. John was also a charter member of Calvin Christian Reformed Church and a current member of Olivet Evangelical Free Church. John also served as treasurer for Muskegon Classis of the Christian Reformed Church and as a board member of Muskegon Christian School. In addition to his wife, Jacqueline, John is survived by his daughters, Louise (Bill) Ypema of Muskegon and Jayne (Tim) Fifolt of Cleveland, OH; 5 grandchildren, Connie (Stacey) Manning, Julie (Perry) Ekkel, Becky (Chris) VanHuis, Ranae Fifolt, and Eric Fifolt; 7 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lois Kitchen; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Betty, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Clarissa Kroeze and Bernice Oosting. INTERMENT will be in Oakwood Cemetery. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 2 PM Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Olivet Evangelical Free Church, 6790 Harvey St., Spring Lake, with Pastor Craig Cramblet officiating and Full Military Rites under the auspices of the American Legion and VFW posts.
