John Paul Elwell's Obituary
John Paul Elwell, age 39, passed away Monday, July 17, 2023 at his home. He was born June 26, 1984 in Muskegon to Daniel and Sue (Calkins) Elwell and was a lifelong resident. John married Emily Jane Huss in Muskegon on May 15, 2010. He was currently employed as an inspector/assembly specialist for Kaydon Corp/SKF of Norton Shores. John was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was an outdoorsman, loved to camp and fish. John was a talented musician and self-taught on the piano and guitar. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Emily J. Elwell; 4 children, Isaac, Evelyn, Thomas, Jeffery; his mother, Sue Elwell; 5 brothers, Steve (Amy) Elwell, Marc Elwell, Joe Elwell, Danny Elwell, Paul Elwell; 6 sisters, Theresa Elwell, Sandra DePoy, Catherine (Dave) Barrick, Judy Kotecki, Rose (Mike) Davis, Mary (Travis Ginsberg) Elwell; his in-laws, Greg and Mary Huss; 2 brothers-in-law, Kevin (Jackie) Huss, Nathan Huss; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Dan Elwell. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 2929 McCracken Street, with the Rev. Fr. Steven W. Geerling presiding. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass, 10-11 AM Wednesday at the church. Interment will take place at St. Anthony Cemetery in Brunswick. Memorial Contributions may be directed to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church or the Education/Vocation Fund for his children.
