John Mito Evanoff's Obituary
John Mito Evanoff, age 90, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026, in Muskegon, MI. He was born November 21, 1935, to Mito and Veneta (Mldenova) Evanoff, in Chicago, Illinois. John graduated from Wells High School and went on to the University of Illinois. After school he worked for Sears in sales for over 30 years.
John will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his ability to always make others laugh. He had a deep love of history and was especially passionate about World War II. England held a special place in his heart, and he traveled there often. An avid reader, John loved getting lost in a good book and spent much of his time reading. He held great respect for veterans and took pride in supporting and contributing monthly to various organizations in their honor. Above all, John loved his family dearly and was dedicated to ensuring their financial well-being, teaching them the importance of saving and investing for the future.
He is survived by his three children, Michael (Debbie) Evanoff, Joann Evanoff, and Kristofer (Nancy Connelly) Evanoff; five grandchildren, Amanda (Eric), Brittany, Tristian (Collin), Max, and Madeline; four great grandchildren, Blake, Lilly, Rylin and Ryker; and daughter-in-law, Jill Pettit. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sons, Loren and Steven Evanoff.
Burial will take place at a later date at Irving Park Cemetery in Chicago, Illinois. Arrangements made through The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E.
