John E. Hickman's Obituary
John Edward Hickman, age 93, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016. He was born August 27, 1922 in Grand Rapids, MI to Forrest and Florence (Fritz) Hickman. John worked for Sealed Power Corporation for 40 years prior to retiring in 1981. On June 28, 1952 he married the former Helen M. Willard in Muskegon and she preceded him in death on October 4, 1996. John was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and former member of St. Michael Catholic Church of Brunswick, member of the Fremont Moose Lodge #1555, and life-time member of the Muskegon Eagles Aerie #668. He also enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, golfing, playing cribbage, bowling, gardening, going to casinos, and watching Tiger baseball. SURVIVORS include 3 children: Steven (Cindy) Hickman of Muskegon, Suzanne (David) Horan of Twin Lake, Sandra Christiansen of Muskegon; 3 grandchildren: Jennifer Hickman, Nicholas Horan, Laura (Daniel) Waggoner; 4 great-grandchildren: Michael Horan, Aiden, Wyn, and Adelyn Waggoner; sister-in-law, Margaret “Peg” Hickman; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert “Bob” Hickman; 2 sisters: Jean Hewitt and Betty Theile. THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday, April 22, 2016 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Antony Britto presiding. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the mass. Burial will take place in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery in Brunswick. MEMORIALS to the American Heart Association will be appreciated.
