Mr. John L. Hill's Obituary
Mr. John L. Hill, age 78, passed away at home on Tuesday, October 20, 2015. He was born on October 17, 1937 to John and Bertha (Chandonnet) Hill in Grand Rapids. John was the owner of and had retired from Muskegon Waterbed and previously was the owner of Club Safari in Muskegon. When growing up he served as an altar boy in the Catholic Church. John enlisted in the US Air Force where he served his country in both Japan and Portugal, and became a boxer, winning 54 undefeated fights. John was an active father, coaching Little League, Pop Warner and had served as president in many different organizations. The family moved to California in 1965 where he became employed in the hospitality industry. On May 19, 1962 he married Donna Kenney and they have been married for 54 years. She survives him along with 3 sons, Michael Robert Schaub, John Louis Hill II and Thomas Kenney Hill; 3 grandchildren, Michelle and Michael Schaub and Tess Hill; 4 sisters, Doris (Lee) Arvey, Ruth “Tootie” (Ken) Beechum, Reeda “Bonnie” (Robert) O’Mera and Carol Lee (Rob) McGowan. He was preceded in death by infant daughter, Suzanne; his parents; and his brother, Richard Hill. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM on Monday, October 26, 2015 at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., 231-726-5210 with Rev. Fr. Michael P. Olson presiding.
