Mr. Houseman was a math teacher of mine in the Montague schools in 4th or 5th grade. (I'm 61)....not sure which grade it was, but he made such an impression on me when he handled something I had done wrong, in the most awesome way. I was not a Christian at the time, although i was seeking, and he with the most loving-kindness, when he could have been angry with reason, forgave me and encouraged me and "built me up" instead of tearing me down. This made all the difference in the rest of how I not only changed my ethic of work, but how I treat others when they make bad decisions.
I can only imagine the many many lives he touched, young and more mature, through the rest of his life! He will experience the thrill of welcoming people to heaven that he been instrumental in carrying Christ to for a long time to come!
I have thought of him often throughout the years....my only regret is not contacting him and thanking him!
What a wonderful man.

Just learned of the passing of Mr. Houseman. We shared the same unit at Davita. Mr. Houseman was such a kind gentleman. My sincere condolences. Joann Baldwin .

Uncle Johnnie always had a way with family and with the kids. I will never forget his infectious smile and warm, welcoming heart. He will be missed, but his legacy will live on through his many family members waiting to meet him in glory. My thoughts and prayers are with each of them.

I always remember the kind and loving heart he had for his family,and always open doors at the houseman house,but the most memorable times were when we went to the pool parties....uncle john,you will always have a special time in my heart and will be greatly missed.....love you

Uncle John gave me my love for water! I would stand on end of my driveway when I knew he was going to Joe and Joanne's at Crystal Lake! I wasn't about to pass up on a day at the lake...especially if Brock and Jerry we're going! He never said "no" to me. He taught me how to ski, dive from platform and took me on a scary disc ride on the water. I could play in the water for hours on end. He always had a smile! He will be missed.

in honor of John.

I remember ever since Noah was old enough to be in school whenever Uncle John saw him he would pull him aside and ask him how he was doing in school. He always took the time to show interest and explain how important a good education was and that always stuck with Noah. We have lots of good good memories of John. First, we are grateful that God had led him into our lives. I'm most thankful that John and Marge were willing to take in two little kids who needed you. Karen and Gilbert Thompson needed a home to live in and you provided much more than that for them. They were safe, secure, and loved by the two of you. For that, I'm eternally grateful. I also remember the times you let my kids and myself come over and swim in your pool as often as we wanted. We had great fun and great talks with you. Because of John' dedication, faithfulness, and trust in God, I know I will see him again. Fly to Jesus!
