John Henry Houseman's Obituary
Mr. John Henry Houseman, age 92, passed away in Muskegon on Thursday, October 3, 2024. He was born in Muskegon on April 20, 1932 to Non and Genavie (Borgerding) Houseman. John married the former Beverly Zillah on January 14, 1955 and they enjoyed 69 years of marriage prior to her passing earlier this year. John was a veteran of the United States Army and had been employed by Muskegon Public Schools in the maintenance department for 39 years prior to his retirement in 1994. He was a member of Fruitland Covenant Church. John was a talented woodworker, enjoyed gardening, walking, and in his later years, was able to perfect his art of baking cookies. John is survived by five children, Gary (Nancy) Houseman, Robert (Joni) Houseman, Janet (Joel) LaRue, Richard (Cathy) Houseman, and Tammie (Gordon) Burnham; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren (with number 14 due any day). He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; his parents; daughter, Cheryl Houseman; brothers, Carl, Harold, and Ted; and sister, Harriet Dykes. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Fruitland Covenant Church with Rev. Carl Franzon officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to his service.
