John Hradsky, Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. John Hradsky, Jr., age 99, passed away Monday evening, October 10, 2011 at the Poppen Residence of Harbor Hospice. He was born September 22, 1912 in Muskegon to John Sr. and Katherine (Poliak) Hradsky, and lived his entire life in the area. On August 7, 1942 he married the former Madge Evelyn Bergstrom in a ceremony at their Winnetaska cottage in Muskegon. She preceded him in death in 2000. John grew up on the family farm on Seminole Road with his 9 brothers and sisters, and graduated from Muskegon Heights High School. He worked at the Muskegon Gas Company for 15 years before establishing Hradsky Brothers – a water systems contracting firm which he operated with his son Jack for more than 60 years. He was a member of First Congregational Church and, as an avid sports hunter and fisherman, was active for many of his younger years in the Spoonville Gun Club. SURVIVORS include his remaining son, James (Samira) Hradsky of Publier, France; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Hradsky of Norton Shores; 5 grandchildren, Vanessa (John Atkins) Hradsky of New York City, Brigitte (Alex Sinclair) Hradsky of New York City, Kelly Hradsky of Washington, DC, Jon Hradsky IV of Ann Arbor, and Brittani Hradsky of Muskegon; 1 great-granddaughter, Elysa Hradsky of New York City; 2 brothers, Dan Hradsky and Fred Hradsky, both of Muskegon. He was preceded in death by his son, John “Jack” Hradsky III. A Memorial Gathering to celebrate John’s life will be planned for the first week of January 2012.
