John M. Kowalski's Obituary
John M. Kowalski, age 77, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2023. He was born May 9, 1946 in Muskegon to Matthew and Mary (Schiller) Kowalski. John was a graduate of Muskegon Catholic Central High School and worked 30 years for Anderson Pattern as a pattern maker prior to his retirement. John loved to travel with friends and family and would often take camping trips with his grandchildren. He had a passion for classic cars and was always looking for deals at garage sales. John was also an avid hunter and fisherman, using friends’ cabins and his own dock on Spring Lake to support his hobby. John took great pride in organizing gun shoots as well as weekly breakfast meetings with high school and lifelong friends. John was one of those rare people who would drop everything to help someone, using his innovative skills to solve problems. SURVIVORS include two sons: Kent Kowalski of Palm Springs, CA and Brent (Bronte) Kowalski of Spring Lake; three grandchildren: Weston, Phoebe, and Nora; life partner, Yvonne Newingham of Spring Lake; two brothers: Ed Kowalski of North Carolina and Tom (Barb) Kowalski of Washington; four sisters: Teresa Kowalski of Oregon, Rosemary Kowalski, Ann (Larry) Lynn, and Laura Kowalski all of Muskegon; many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Joel and Tony Kowalski. A celebration gathering for John will be held from 3 PM to 5 PM on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at Whitlow’s Forerunner Restaurant (4610 Airline Rd., Muskegon, MI 49444).
