John H. Line Sr.'s Obituary
John Harold Line, Sr., age 85, passed away Tuesday morning, July 22, 2025, at home with family by his side. He was born February 9, 1940, in Muskegon, to Harold B. and Vivian “Madge” (Smith) Line.
John graduated from Muskegon High School in 1958. Shortly after, he married his first wife, Sharon Lang, on August 23, 1958. She preceded him in death on February 7, 1987. On January 15, 1988, he married Bonnie Smith, who also preceded him in death on January 15, 2020.
John spent 28 years working as a salesman for Lakeshore Machinery and later retired from Reid Tool after 15 years of dedicated service. He was a devoted member of Fellowship Church, a passionate reader, and an avid NASCAR fan. He had a deep love for his dogs and was a committed blood donor, regularly giving back to the community.
John is survived by six children: John (BJ) Line, Jr. of Yuma, AZ, Jeffrey (Alan) Line of Johannesburg, MI, Debra Foley of Watonga, OK, Kelly (David) Pierce of Muskegon, MI, Steven (Ruth) Line of Muskegon, MI, and Robin (Steve) Forbes of Muskegon, MI; step-son, Robert (Jessica) Smith; 17 grandchildren: Jason Line, James Line, Marc Line, Justin Pierce, Matthew Pierce, Randy Pierce, Keegan Pierce, Ian Lucas, Jacob Forbes, Caleb Forbes, Holly Line, Steven Line, Joseph Line, Jamison Smith, Carson Smith, Anderson Smith, and Bryson Smith; ten great-grandchildren: Annabelle Line, Ezra Line, Gage Beyrle, Grayson Boluyt, Collin Line, Nadia Line, Olivia Line, Allorie Line, Scarlet Dawes, and Rilee Plotts; sister, Alice (Bob) Wathen; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Alice Constance Line; granddaughter, Jacque Lucas; and a brother, Gilbert Line.
A Graveside Service for John will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at Egelston Twp. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Harbor Hospice Foundation will be appreciated.
