John Abbot Maxwell's Obituary
Mr. John Abbot “Johnny” Maxwell, age 95, passed away on Sunday morning, February 28, 2016 in Muskegon. He was born in Muskegon on December 22, 1920 to Joseph and Ida (Henrian) Maxwell and was a life resident of the area. John was a veteran of the United States Army and had worked at Shaw Walker for over 35 years before his retirement in 1985. He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post #9. John was an avid golfer. On September 19, 1947, John married the former Marguerite Lawitzke in Detroit and she survives him along with two children, Marsha Maxwell and Robert (Julie) Maxwell; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Bruce Maxwell and his twin brother, Joseph Maxwell. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held 5-7 PM on Friday, March 4, 2016.
