Linda, Gary and I regret that we just learned of John's passing. What a great man he was! His skill as a debate coach always impressed me greatly, as did his kindness, his interest in others, and his generous contribution to charitable organizations. One of our last memories of him was our conversation at the Muskegon prayer breakfast in 2015, where he made us feel so welcome in our new community of Norton Shores. John was a jewel, and we know the ache of losing him is still felt so please accept our heartfelt condolences.

I want to thank John H Mckendry for opening up his doors and welcomeing the family and I R.J. To stay a week at your house John.We had a welcomeing and outstanding stay for vacation with y'all in Muskegon Mishigan for fall break of the year of 2013.I just want to thank you John for the Welcomeness and mentorship you gave to me and my family for College.We our saddened to hear you will no longer see us on Earth but are happy to hear you will rejoice in the Kindom of Heaven whom you call home.

Linda: Just heard about John. I am so sorry for your loss. It is so difficult to lose someone you love so much, but I know your family and faith will see you through the tough times ahead. My sincerest condolences go out to all those affected by this tragedy. Words to describe Mr. McKendry (as Ive known him since practically before time was time) are not difficult to come by, generous, kind, compassionate, intelligent, jolly... this list would practically have no end and each new entry would be as aspirational as the last. He was the sort of person to be professionally admired, personally envied, and all around respected; and if im ever I am asked, I will simply reply that I have had the extreme good fortune to have been his friend and neighbor.

My deepest condolences to the entire family! John was indeed a pillar of the community and I know he helped my parents on a number of occasions. That was who he was - he helped people. My prayers and thoughts are with you especially at this time of year. For Pat, Linda, and RuthAnn, I am so sorry you have to endure this.
