John C. Meyers' Obituary
Mr. John C. Meyers, age 93, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013. He was born June 9, 1919 in Muskegon to Muse and Hazel (Poulson) Meyers. He married the former Edith (Parker) Paulson on June 5, 1954. John served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was employed as a Meat Cutter for Meijer, Inc. for 22 years until his retirement in 1981. He was an active member of Olivet Reformed Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed woodworking. John had spent a great deal of his later years as a caregiver to his wife, Edith. She preceded him in death on June 12, 2001. He is survived by his son, Timothy A. (Deborah) Paulson of Fruitport; 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Eugene Meyers of Fruitport; a daughter-in-law, Florence Paulson of Norton Shores. He also was preceded in death by his son, Eugene Paulson and a sister, Nellie Clark. The FUNERAL SERVICE will be held Saturday, January 5, 2013, 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jim VanderMeiden officiating at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100. VISITATION will be Friday 6-8 p.m. Military rites will be under the auspices of the Muskegon County Council of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He will be laid to rest in Lakeside Cemetery. MEMORIAL contributions may be made to Olivet Reformed Church.
