John C. Moore's Obituary
John C. Moore, age 88, met his Lord and Savior Sunday evening, August 29, 2021. He was born on September 25, 1932 to John and Dora (DeGroot) Moore in Muskegon Heights, MI. He graduated from Muskegon Heights High School class of 50’. He was a proud veteran and served in the U.S. Air Force as a staff sergeant during the Korean War from 1951-1955. Upon returning home, he met the love of his life, Betty J. Hulka and married on June 16, 1956. Together they cherished 44 years filled with love and laughter. She preceded him in death on March 1, 2001. John was a faithful servant of our Lord and Savior and was a devoted church member of Dr. Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a dedicated employee of 36 years at Michcon Gas, where he worked as a service technician before retiring in 1987. In his earlier years, John was an avid goose hunter, but his real passion was fishing. He loved to fish in the Michigan Great Lakes for steelhead which were his “baby girls”. John also took pride in his yard work and loved to keep his yard in the most pristine condition. He was also an avid fan of the University of Michigan and would root on his Wolverines! Above all things, he was a family man and enjoyed spending time with them. He will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his two children Jane (Christopher) Brown and Kevin (Stacey) Moore; 6 grandchildren, Danny Moore, Logan (Kailey Hanson) Moore, Hannah (Cody Howell) Moore, Mackenzie Moore, Jason Brown and Jillian (Rob) Davis; 5 great-grandchildren, Jalyn Brown, Jadyn Brown, Bella Davis, Averleigh Moore and Wesley Moore; brother, Tom (Delinn) Moore; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; loving wife; sister, Lorraine Morrison; and brother, Dick Moore. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at the Dr. Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1860 E. Hile Rd., Muskegon, MI 49444. A visitation will be held from 4-7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444.
