Mr. John "Rock" Moore Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. John Russell “Rock” Moore, Jr. age 92, passed away Thursday evening, December 14, 2017, at a local hospital. John was born June 23, 1925 in Grand Rapids to John R. and Mary (Barding) Moore. John served his country in the U.S. Army during WW ll. On September 29, 1949 he married the former Betty Evelyn Jackson and she preceded him in death on December 14, 1997. He was a sales clerk for Sears for 44 years prior to his retirement in 1971. He was a longtime member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. John loved playing his accordion at Big Jim’s with all his many friends. Most of all, he loved the time spent with his family and will be missed by his son, Gregory J. (Sherri) Moore of Muskegon; 3 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. John was also preceded in death by his parents; his son, Rodney Dale Moore; 3 sisters, Virginia Glass, Barbara Russo, and Mary Smith. In accordance with his wishes, PRIVATE FAMILY SERVICES have been held. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to The Muskegon Rescue Mission or Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
