Mr. John S. Moran's Obituary
Mr. John S. Moran, age 77, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013 in Muskegon after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Muskegon on October 18, 1935 to George J. and Elvi H. (Stein) Moran and lived most of his life in the area. John was a veteran of the United States Army Reserves. In 1958, he graduated from The University of Notre Dame with a BS in Chemical Engineering. He moved back to Muskegon and started working for S. D. Warren Paper Mill where he retired as Chief Engineer in 1994 after 36 years of employment. John was a member of St. Francis deSales Catholic Church and a member of the Graphic Arts Society at the Muskegon Museum of Art. As a young child, John developed a love for letter press printing. Later on in life, John turned that love into a hobby, converting his basement into his own personal press room where he would print and restore old presses. On September 15, 1962, John married the former Carol J. Curran in Muskegon, MI and she survives him along with 2 children, Mary Amy (Tom) Sanocki and Jim (Kristin) Moran; 6 grandchildren, David, Andrew, Emily, and Sarah Sanocki and Megan and Mikey Moran. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Mike Moran. The MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday at St. Francis de Sales – Marian Chapel with Rev. Fr. Philip P. Salmonowicz presiding. VISITATION will be from 6-8 PM Wednesday at The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., 231-759-8565. MEMORIALS to Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
