Mr. John Geasler Mulder Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. John Geasler Mulder, Sr., age 82, passed away Monday, March 24, 2014 in Ferrysburg, MI. He was born at Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI on August 18, 1931 to Henry and Vera (Geasler) Mulder. John was a 1950 graduate of South High School where his father was a teacher. He attended Michigan State University and graduated from Davenport College. John enjoyed golf, deer hunting, the outdoors and grilling. He served honorably in the U.S. Army (1954-56) and was stationed in Honau, Germany. For many years, John was an insurance adjuster and formed his own company, West Michigan Adjusting. He also owned and operated, with his wife, Mulder’s Hallmark Store. On December 28, 1968, John married the former Judie K. Duthler and she survives him along with two children, John G. “Johnny” Mulder, Jr. and Stephanie K. (Chip) Netzel; three step-sons, Todd (Sally) Geerlings, Scott (Jackie) Geerlings and Kent (Debbie) Geerlings, Sr.; nine grandchildren, Rob, Zac and Gabe Netzel, Aric and Brandon Geerlings, Jenna (Rob) TerHorst, Michelle, Kent Jr. and Hannah Geerlings; one great-grandson, Henry; three brothers-in-law, Dr. Tom (Mary) Duthler, Cornie Paauwe and Dr. Tim (Cherrie) Duthler and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bernie Mulder. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Friday, March 28, 2014 at Covenant Life Church (101 Columbus Ave, Grand Haven, MI 49417) with Rev. Bruce Ballast officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider Allendale Christian Schools, Covenant Life Church, or My Brothers House II.
