Mr. John Richard Nowak's Obituary
Mr. John Richard Nowak, age 83, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2012 in Grand Haven, MI. He was born January 29, 1929 in Stevens Point, WI, to John and Anita Nowak and lived in the Muskegon area most of his life. On September 4, 1948, he married the former Lorraine D. Gay in Muskegon and she preceded him in death on June 27, 2012. John worked over 30 years as a machinist for S.D. Warren Paper Mill and retired in 1987. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. John was an outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and camping. SURVIVORS include 6 children, John “Jack” (Gussie) Nowak, Steven (Mary Jo) Nowak, Kenneth (Amy) Nowak, and Christine Nowak, all of Norton Shores, Mary Jane (Kim Schachinger) Nowak of Farmington Hills, and Robert Nowak of West Olive; 1 daughter-in-law, Mary Beth Nowak; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 1 brother-in-law, Dan (Shelley) Chambers of Grandville; numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his wife, Lorraine, he was also preceded in death by one son, Joseph Nowak. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 10:00 AM Saturday, July 21, 2012 at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Matthew J. Barnum as celebrant. INTERMENT will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. VISITATION will be held 6-8 PM Friday evening at The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., (231) 759-8565. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the Mass, 9-10 AM Saturday at the church.
