Mr. John W. Pickett's Obituary
Mr. John W. Pickett, age 77 died Wednesday, August 15, 2018 in Muskegon. Born December 13, 1940 in Black Oak, Arkansas, he moved to Michigan as a young teenager. John drove truck for the majority of his career, working for Wagoner Transportation before they closed, then moving to the Muskegon County Road Commission. In 1960 he married Joy-An Hayward with whom he had two children. He married Lorraine Thibdaue Vosovic of Grand Haven on October 10, 1989 in Abingdon, Virginia. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. John is survived by his wife, Lorraine; daughter Serina (Michael Schoonfield) McClees; son, John (Sandy) Pickett; brothers, Bob (Pam) Pickett and Mark Lorsenson; 4 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his longtime friend Bill (Carol Crevier) Longsdorf. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Pickett; mother, Evelyn Waller; and brother David Pickett. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, August 20, 2018 at 2:30PM at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100, followed by refreshments and coffee. Visitation with the family will begin at 1PM, prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan or to a local Hospice of your choice.
