Mr. John J. Pietrowicz's Obituary
Mr. John J. Pietrowicz, 94, passed away early Saturday morning, March 14, 2015 in Muskegon, MI. He was born February 4, 1921 to Joseph and Sophie (Jankowski) Pietrowicz in Muskegon, and was a lifelong resident. John was a WWII U.S. Army Air Corps veteran in the Pacific as a mechanic on P-51s, and was a member of the Catholic War Veterans. He had worked in the Finishing Department at S.D. Warren for 42 years before retiring in 1981, and was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, where he served as an usher. John enjoyed building and repairing things around the house, repairing cars and clocks. On October 19, 1946 he married his beloved wife Violet G. Kirk, and she preceded him in death on December 11, 1999. John is survived by one daughter, Linda Lou (David) Szurley of Muskegon; 3 grandchildren, Sarah Szurley, David (Tracey) Szurley, Christopher Szurley and 6 great grandchildren; Hayden, Cameron, Bailey, Reagan, Avery and Sydney. John was preceded in death by his mother, father, stepfather Feliks Jegerski, sisters; Anna (Hipe) Dobb, Adele (John) Kowalski, Helen (Edward) Grabinski, Josephine (John) Kresnak and brother, Edward (Mona) Jegerski. THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Thursday at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Marian Chapel, with the Rev. Fr. Philip P. Salmonowicz presiding. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery. VISITATION at The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., (231) 759-8565, will be from 5-7 PM Wednesday, with the Rosary prayed at 4:30 PM.
