John P. Ripple's Obituary
Mr. John P. Ripple, age 53, of Grand Haven, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021, at home. He was born January 16, 1968, in Grand Haven, to Dr. William and Elizabeth (Olsen) Ripple, and was the youngest of their 6 sons. John graduated with the Class of 1986 from Grand Haven High School. He attended St. Patrick - St. Anthony Church.
John loved and lived for hunting, fishing and being by the water. John also enjoyed sports. He played football, baseball, softball and bowled. He also liked watching sports (especially the Detroit Lions) and playing cards with friends.
John was a special uncle to all of his nieces and nephews. He also found great joy in his relationship with his nephew and Godchild, William, and William’s growing love of the woods and water and the opportunities of hunting and fishing with him.
We will all miss him very much, as he was special and one of a kind. We’ll all miss the gentle giant and his great beard.
He is survived by his mom, Elizabeth “Betsy”; brothers: Mike (Lina), Dan, Tony (Tami), and Bob; nieces and nephews: Michelle (Kevin), Chris (Taylor), Desiré, Elizabeth, William, Hannah, Janicé, Michael, and Bre’El; and 5 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. William “Bill” Ripple, and his brother, Thomas Ripple.
A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 AM Friday, October 8, 2021, at St. Patrick – St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Charles Schwartz officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at The VanZantwick Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 620 Washington Ave, Grand Haven, MI 49417 and one hour prior to the service at church.
Interment will take place in Lake Forest Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of John may be given to Sportsmen for Youth. Please sign the family’s online guestbook at www.sytsemafh.com.
