John J. Twork's Obituary
Mr. John J. Twork, age 89, of Grand Haven, MI passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015. He was born September 27, 1925 in Munising, MI to John and Frances (Drazinski) Twork.
John was a member of St. Patrick – St. Anthony Catholic Church in Grand Haven. He served his country in WWII as a member of the U.S. Army. He was an avid reader, enjoyed music, gardening, scroll work and countless other hobbies. He loved his wife, Rose, dearly and always enjoyed having his family around.
On June 25, 1955 he married Rose Mikos in Ravenna, MI. They lived in Danville, Illinois for fifty years, where John was well known as the manager of the F.W. Woolworth Store. He and Rose were dedicated members of St. Paul Catholic Church in Danville where they led the rosary, RCIA and pre-baptism classes for years.
Along with his wife Rose, he is survived by five children: John F. (Kathy) Twork of Bloomington, IL, Catherine (John) Provenza of Mt. Prospect, IL, Mary (Scott) Davis of Massillon, OH, Rosemary (Richard) Bryniarski of Homer Glen, IL, and Tom (Diane) Twork of Grand Haven; twelve grandchildren: John Daniel (Kayleigh) Twork, John Paul Provenza, Julie Provenza, Joseph Provenza, Christopher Davis, Rebecca (Mitchell) Corlett, Kevin Davis, Michael Davis, John Henry Bryniarski, Michael (Sasha Babicki) Bryniarski, Anna Bryniarski, Kristen Twork. He is also survived by sister, Eleanor Goss and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers: Peter, Leo, Stanley Twork and an infant brother; four sisters: Kate Dale, Florence Mattson, Marie Twork and Helen Twork.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:08 AM Monday, January 19, 2015 at St. Patrick’s – St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. Father Kenneth Schichtel officiating. Visitation will be held 3:00 – 7:00 PM Sunday, January 18, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven with a rosary at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will take place in St. Catherine Cemetery in Ravenna. Contributions in memory of John may be given to Schlarman Academy in Danville, CurePSP – www.PSP.org, St. Patrick-St. Anthony Catholic Church Opening Doors Capital Campaign.
