John Edwin VanderLaan's Obituary
John Edwin VanderLaan, 79 years passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 19, 2024, at his home in Twin Lake, MI. John was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. John E. VanderLaan and Jane Oram Gray VanderLaan. John was born May 17, 1944. His parents moved to Muskegon, MI, in 1947, where John lived most of his life. He leaves behind his brother, Charles “Duke” VanderLaan of Muskegon; four sisters: Nancy Jane (Frank) Turco of Phoenix, Arizona, MaryAnn VanderLaan, Joan Gray VanderLaan, and Phyllis Jean VanderLaan, all of Las Cruces, New Mexico; multiple nieces and nephews; including Alana VanderLaan, T.J. VanderLaan, Carl VanderLaan, Jennifer VanderLaan, John E. VanderLaan, Matthew Turco, Christopher Turco, and Allison Turco Ashford; and many other family members, plus the many devoted caregivers and friends who took care of him over the years. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE is being held for John from 12:00 – 2:00 PM on Friday, August 9, 2024, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI, 49444.
