John Vanderplow, Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. John Vanderplow, Jr., age 82 died Saturday, February 11, 2006 in Muskegon. He was born on September 23, 1923 in Muskegon to John and Anna (Sadler) Vanderplow, and had been a life resident of the area. Mr. Vanderplow was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in W.W.II, and was retired from Teledyne Continental Motors. Mr. Vanderplow enjoyed making and flying model airplanes. On April 2, 1944 he married the former Violet Burr, and she preceded him in death on May 7, 2000. SURVIVORS include 2 children, Allen (Lynn) Vanderplow of Racine, WI, and Mary Ann (Bob) Thornton of Twin Lake; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer, Jodie and Todd; 3 great grandchildren; and 1 sister, Frances Kurth of Muskegon. He was also preceded in death by his parents, 1 grandson, Daniel Thornton; 2 brothers, and 1 sister. SERVICES will be 11 AM Wednesday at Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210. VISITATION with the family will be 1 hour prior to the service, from 10-11 AM. Burial will take place in Egelston Twp. Cemetery.
