John E. VanRandwyk's Obituary
Mr. John VanRandwyk, age 89, went to be with his Lord, Thursday, February 25, 2016. He was born in Muskegon on June 23, 1926 to Henry and Dora (Duiser) VanRandwyk. John grew up on a farm between Kent City and Grant for 18 years after which he served 2 years in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was employed with Bursma Radio Supply Company for the majority of his career. John was a member of Fruitport Christian Reformed Church, and he served on various boards for Kingdom causes. John married Henrietta “Etta” Holtrop on June 18, 1948, and together spent 64 years together before Etta preceded him in death on January 28, 2012. SURVIVORS include 2 children, David (Suzanne) VanRandwyk of Grandville and Joan (Randy) Norman of Muskegon; 5 grandchildren, Jamie (Lisa) VanRandwyk of San Ramon, CA, Stacy (Jeremiah) Schutte of Pella, IA, Kari (Jeff) Blech of Jamestown, MI, Ryan (Rebecca) Norman of Grand Rapids and Ross Norman of Pasadena, CA; and 8 great-grandchildren. John was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Henry VanRandwyk and Gerrit VanRandwyk. FUNERAL SERVICES for John will be 11 AM Monday, February 29 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100 with Pastor John Huyser officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 5-7 PM Sunday, and one hour prior to the service from 10-11 AM. Burial will take place in Restlawn Cemetery.
