John Vogelsang's Obituary
John Atkins Vogelsang, 92, of Grand Haven passed away on June 30, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irving and Helen; and his sister, Jean. He is survived by his loving wife, Helen ”Reba”, two daughters, Sarah Crosby of Torrance, California, and Susan (Bill) Bardins of Ada, Michigan; step-daughter, Joan (Scott) Wolfe of Grand Haven, MI; and step-son, William (Donna) Kitzmiller of Grand Haven, MI, and their families.
John attended the Art Institute of Chicago, and spent his entire career in furniture and store fixture design. He retired at age 70 from Herman Miller of Zeeland, MI. He was a very talented woodworker and enjoyed building furniture for his girls as well as helping friends with their projects. John served over four years in the US Navy-Coast Guard Division during WWII.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2013 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven. A graveside service will be 2:30 PM Wednesday at Lakeshore Cemetery. The family would especially like to thank the staff at Sierra House, Lakeshore Assisted Living, for their compassionate care and Hospice of North Ottawa Community for their service.
