John J. Walhout's Obituary
John Walhout, age 100, met his Lord and Savior face to face on March 3, 2023, after a long and faithful life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude, and daughter, Marcia. He is survived by his brothers Don of Rockford, IL, and Clare of Grand Rapids, and sister-in-law Betty Punt of Grand Rapids. He will be greatly missed by daughters Carol (Randy) Grasmeyer, and Linda (Bob) Paasche, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. John was a WWII veteran and a lifetime member of Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church. He enjoyed life and had many hobbies. The family would like to express special thanks to the Allen Ave. Church family for their loving care of Dad, and also to the staff at Seminole Shores and Hospice for their kindness to him. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 8, at 11:00 am at the Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church, 695 Allen Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442. Burial will take place at Restlawn Cemetery. Visitation at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442, will be Tuesday, March 7, from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Muskegon Christian School would be appreciated.
