John Chan Wallfred's Obituary
Mr. John Chan Wallfred, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 in Fruitport, Michigan. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on July 28, 1931 to Carl and Irene (Chan) Wallfred. John graduated from the University of Minnesota and worked in foundry management for 45 years prior to his retirement from CWC Textron in 2001. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing tennis, golf, baseball, basketball, and football. He was also a extraordinary family man and enjoyed spending winters in Florida. On September 9, 1956, John married the former Gwenllyn L. Kiehl in Fairmont, Minnesota and she survives him along with their two children, Robert Wallfred and Jeanne (Ken) James; two grandsons, Jesse (Yasuo) Tryon and Zachary Tyler; and several nieces and nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Thomas Wallfred. SERVICES for John will be held 3:00PM Saturday, March 18, 2023 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. VISITATION will be one hour prior to his service. Burial will be in Spring Lake Cemetery.
