John L. Wickerink's Obituary
John Lester Wickerink, age 90, passed away in Muskegon, MI, on Thursday, May 15, 2025. John was born in Muskegon to Lester and Amy (Olsen) Wickerink, and he lived his whole life in the Muskegon area. On September 7, 1956, he married the former Donna Postma, and the two of them spent 65 wonderful years building their family together until she preceded him in death in 2020. John worked as a salesman for All-Phase Electric for 27 years before retiring in 1998. In his younger years John was an Eagle Scout, and was proud to have earned his Bronze Palm. John loved spending time outdoors, whether it was fishing, golfing, gardening, or camping with his family. He was a longtime member at Calvin Church in Muskegon, where he served for many years as an elder, deacon, and cadet counselor. He enjoyed cooking, especially baking different breads and making jerky for his friends and family. John was a generous person, and he was always willing to help others how he could. John will be lovingly remembered by his two children: Gary (Cindy) and Kristi Wickerink; grandson, Jeff Wickerink; great-grandson, Tucker Wickerink; sister, Lynn (Dave) Visscher; and two sisters in-law: Barb Scanlon and Bev (Dave) Kool. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Amy Wickerink; wife, Donna Wickerink; brother, Russell (Marlene) Wickerink; and brother in-law, Robert Scanlon. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held for John at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 23, 2025, at Calvin Church, 973 W Norton Ave, Muskegon, MI 49441, with VISITATION taking place an hour prior.
