To John and family:

It is hard to find a more caring person in today's experiences. I only knew John a couple few short years, as an acquaintance around the Muskegon area and Mona Lake Boating Club. We conversed about a multitude of topics.

John, always eager to show many people the art of flying, either through Wings of Mercy or from the goodness of his heart. I am glad to say he accommodated a flight for me one afternoon. A beautiful, sunny, breathtaking day. One that demonstrated picturesque views of Mona Lake, Muskegon Lake and Lake Michigan, all in a single trip. A very memorable and unforgettable mental representation of goodness. Forever thanking him for our endeavor.

He also stepped up, after my Stroke, to offer his assistance and expertise, as the Orthotics/shoe Guru of Muskegon. Set me up, no questions asked, with a brace/shoe gear organized for stability and strengthening. I still use these on occasion, depending on situational conditions at the time. Again, John's passion to be an advocate for health and recovery, that I have personally shared with John.

Where do I begin....
John was an awesome guy. We have so many memories of John and our family. I think the highlight was flying with him. I remember him landing at our house and flying along Mona Lake, then he took our son for a ride. The time he landed at our house during a storm to ride it out for the night. I worked with John at the Meijer shoe repair where he learned the trade from the best, my dad. We loved him like a brother. In later years it was fun to see John at The Boat Club. Fly high John and have a drink with Bill and Med.

Mike, Tom, Kelly, Patti I am sorry to read about John's passing. As you know, I met John when was a cub scout and your mother was our den mother. Soon after John started his business he asked me for some tips on how to bill Medicare since I was in the medical billing industry. John was a great listener and over the years would talk on many different subjects. John was a great guy and will for sure be missed in this world of ours.

My dad, mom, and I took our shoes to shoe repair shop for years. He always, always greeted with a smile….and it was sincere…genuine…he didn’t even have to try…seemed happiness was just part of his being! 🥰Customer service extraordinaire! My memories of the Yarranton family started years ago, not only with the shoe shop. My dad worked with John’s dad for years in car sales (Al had a great smile too😌). I worked with Mike at the YMCA back in the day. Keeping Mike, my sweetheart visiting neighbor (Bentley), and family in my thoughts.

I only knew John for a few years, but he was always one of the kindest people I’d met. He once visited my uncle’s house and generously gave my son his very first flying experience—a moment we’ll always remember.
