John D. Mattfolk's Obituary
Mr. John David Mattfolk, age 67, passed away Friday evening, July 15, 2011. He was born July 26, 1943 in Muskegon to George and Nellie (Miller) Mattfolk. Mr. Mattfolk was a U.S. Army Veteran during the Vietnam Era and was a life member of Samuel Lutheran Church. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier for 37 years before retiring. Mr. Mattfolk enjoyed RV camping, fishing, and wintering in the south. On June 20, 1964 he married the former Florence J. Compton in Muskegon and she survives him along with 2 children, London Nicole (Dean) England, Blane John (Rose) Mattfolk both of Muskegon; 4 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 2 foster grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; brother, George J. Mattfolk of Muskegon; sister, Joan (Jim) Predko of Lansing; special aunt, Bertha McCrea; numerous loving nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Charles Lee (Dorothy) Compton of Muskegon; 2 sisters-in-law, Katherine (Dennis) Smith of Lansing, and Judy Compton Flint of Muskegon. He was preceded in death by his parents. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Samuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Marcy Miller officiating. Burial will take place in Laketon Twp. Cemetery. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service. MEMORIALS to the Samuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund will be appreciated.
