Wanted to tell you all it was an honor to share time with your father. For a while there, he filled a void of mine, since the passing of my Dad three years ago. I enjoyed his humor, his liking for manhattans, and the stories he shared about meeting your Mom and playing his music. He may have repeated one or two, a few times over, but all that meant was they were treasures to him! We spent little time together, in the scheme of things, but I will remember the twinkle in his eyes, his laugh, and those lunches at the Bil-Mar. He was a treat. Doug will be remembered by me as a fun and open man who took in a little girl from NC when she was missing her grandpas. I will remember Christmas in July in Spring Lake, and his music.

Doug was one of the greatest men I've ever known. He made us feel like part of the family while we were in Grand Haven and that continued with their visits to NC. I know how special it is to be blessed with such a wonderful father/grandfather and know how much you all will miss him and cherish his memory. I love you all very much.

To the Baker Family,
My prayers and thoughts are with your entire family during your time of loss, may all your precious memories help you in celebrating Dougs life.
I didn't know him but my Dad Gene knew him and my husband Terry, and both went to Baker Lumber for supplies many times.
I am sending my sympathy to you as a neighbor (CHH) and friend. Your Dad and Grandpa was a very important part of Grand Haven and Baker Lumber continues to be thru the Baker Family.

I am so glad we got to see your dad the last time we were in Grand Haven. As you all know, he and your mom were my second family. I will miss him too. All of our family is once again together.

Baker Lumber helped us remodel a house in Grand Haven in the early 1970's. Doug and his son(s) were wonderful people with whom to deal. Doug also was a fast friend of Stuart & Lucile Dubee, and was a stalwart support to Lucile and to Bob, her second husband, at Treasure Island.
