John E. Oslund's Obituary
Mr. John E. Oslund, age 99, passed away Sunday evening, May 1, 2005 at a local nursing home. He was born in Sundsvall, Sweden on December 2, 1905 to Eric Bernhard and Elna Maria (Janson) Oslund, and emigrated from Sweden with his family to Muskegon in 1923. John worked at Kaydon Engineering Corporation for many years before retiring in 1970. Mr. Oslund was a 25 year member of the International Association of Machinists, was one of the founding officers of the Muskegon Yacht Club, and was a former member of the Vikings. He was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church since 1951 where he served as deacon. On October 30, 1937, in Manistee, Michigan, he married the former Leona Magnuson and she preceded him in death on March 20, 1991. He is survived by 2 daughters, Judith (Tom) Kronlein of Hart, MI and Joy (Don) Ott of Spring Lake, MI; 5 grandchildren, Tom (Kim) Kronlein, Lynne (Tom) Wiggins, Peter (Barby) Kronlein, Laurel (Malcolm) Davis, and Jeffrey (Debra) Ott; 10 great-grandchildren, Ben, Rachel, Sam, and Anna Kronlein, McKenna, Conor, and Evan Davis, Johannah, Jacson, and Jamerson Ott; 3 nieces and 2 nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and 2 brothers, Nils Elon Oslund and Pehr Louis Oslund. SERVICES will be 1PM Friday at Lakeside Baptist Church with Rev. Malcolm Davis and Rev. Ron Johnson officiating. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the church. INTERMENT will take place at Lakeside Cemetery.
