John E. Witt's Obituary
Mr. John E. Witt, age 80, went to be with his Lord early Sunday morning, October 7, 2007. John was born March 28, 1927 to Cornelius and Jeannette (Schoolland) Witt in Alamosa, Colorado and moved to Muskegon from McBain, MI in 1965. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, and a member of Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church where he served as an elder and deacon, belonged to the Men’s Bible Study and the choir. John was a teacher at Western Michigan Christian High School for 17 years before retiring. On August 22, 1947 he married Tillie van’tSlot, she survives him along with 5 children, Sheryl (Daniel) Oegema of Holland, Kenneth (Kathryn) Witt of Muskegon, Larry (Laurie) Witt of McBain, Richard Witt of Washington, Mary (David) Workman of Muskegon; 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Conn (Gerry) Witt of Ripon, CA, David (Shirley) Witt of Fennville; 2 sisters, Sara Mae (Gordon) VanderArk of Cutlerville, Jean (Edward) Ausema of Grant. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 granddaughter. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Thursday at Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church, with Rev. Jerry Postema officiating. Burial will take place at Restlawn Cemetery. VISITATION at
