He was truly a unique and intelligent individual. His love, respect, and passion for anything with an engine, was one of his many unique traits. He was undeniably one of the finest and knowlegeable Evinrude & Johnson Mechanics in his days as an Engine Mechanic and his knowledge of boats and all thing in the Marine field was unsurpassed.
He was always willing to learn and was always willing to share his vast knowledge with others. . It was an enriching experience the years I worked with him and a pleasure being his friend over the years.
I'm sure he will be greatly missed by all who knew & loved him.

It was with sadness that I read in the Chronicle that Johnny had passed away. I considered him not only "my boat mechanic" but my friend. It was he who taught me to launch, operate, and maintain my "Price Is Right" boat which I won back in 1964. I still enjoy the same boat on Mona Lake and will have a toast to Johnny this summer as I cruise by the site of the Mona Lake Marina. Mariann......Yesterday, I was saddened to learn of John's passing and, today, as I was thinking about him, I pictured him years ago, when it seemed he was always in a half run 'To Get Things Done'....and, he did...He was the 'King' of the outboard motor repair world, and 'If John couldn't fix it, no one could.'
