John Henry Nelson's Obituary
Mr. John H. Nelson, age 92, died Wednesday, May 31, 2006 in Nunica. He was born July 24, 1913 in Muskegon to Harry and Wilimenia (Kernigan) Nelson, and had been a life resident. Mr. Nelson was member of First Congregational Church, Vikings Linne 57 Lodge, Muskegon Aerie Eagles, and the Muskegon Moose Lodge. Mr. Nelson had worked for C & O Railroad for 47 years, before retiring in 1973. In June of 1933, he married the former Jessie Plumhoff who preceded him in death in June of 1988. SURVIVORS include 2 children, Ronald L. (Joy) Nelson of N. Muskegon, and Douglas E. (Donetta) Nelson of Karns City, PA; daughter-in-law, Eloise Nelson of La Crescenta, CA; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; special friend, Kay LaFrance of Muskegon; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Nelson was also preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Wilimenia; son, Michael Nelson; 2 sisters and 2 brothers. SERVICES will be 10 AM Monday at Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave,231-726-5210 with Rev. Tim VanderHaar officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 1 hour prior to the service, from 9-10 AM. Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery. Memorial Contributions to Hospice of Muskegon-Oceana would be appreciated.
