John J. Pier's Obituary
Mr. John J. Pier, age 71, passed away Saturday afternoon, July 2, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born September 24, 1939 to John and Cassie Piescinski in Duryea, PA. He moved as a child to Chicago. In 1958 he joined the Marine Corp. serving until 1961. On October 12, 1962 he married Susan Pfau, in Chicago. John worked at Brunswick Corp. for 34 years, transferring in 1983 to Muskegon. He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. John loved being with his family and friends, hunting with his son and grandsons, and fishing trips to Canada. SURVIVORS include his wife Susan; 3 children, Pamela (John) Stransky of Portland, OR, John (Stephanie) Pier of Fruitport, MI, Adrienne (Scott) Frasier of Norton Shores; grandchildren, Jena and Gavin Pier, Evan and Alex Stransky, Alex and Chad Frasier; sisters, Regina Goralski, Lenora Boyer, Clare Stralko, Delores(John)Finnegan, Joan (Andrew) Ewing; mother-in-law, Lynn Pfau; brothers-in-law, Bruce and Thomas Pfau; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Jim Collins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Frank Piescinski. A celebration of Mr. Pier’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 8, at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100 with Rev. Mark Zimmerman officiating.
