John Michael Gawron's Obituary
Mr. John Michael Gawron, age 81, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at a local hospital. He was born March 1, 1924 in Muskegon to John and Mary (Olech) Gawron and lived his entire life in the area. He served his country in the US Army 8th Division during WWII and landed on Normandy. Prior to his time in the army, he was active with the Civil Conservation Corp. He retired in 1981 after working 35 years as a machinist in the shipping and receiving department for Anaconda Wire and Cable Co. He was a life member of the Don Rea VFW Post #8846. He was also a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. SURVIVORS include 2 brothers, Stanley Gawron of Tucson, AZ, Frank (Margaret) Gawron of Norton Shores; 2 sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen Gawron and Joan Gawron both of Muskegon; and 3 generations of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Joseph, Julian and Henry Gawron, and 2 sisters, Helen Gawron and Angela Opalek. THE FUNERAL LITURGY will be celebrated 1:00 PM Saturday, February 25, 2006, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Bart Okagbue presiding. INTERMENT will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery. VISITATION with John’s family will be 5-8 PM Friday at The Walburn Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., (231) 759-8565.
