John Michael Puisis' Obituary
Mr. John Michael Puisis, age 63, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at his home. He was born June 7, 1942 in Muskegon to John and Antoinette (Bundza) Puisis and was a life resident of the area. On September 30, 1961, he married the former Terrie L. Grant in Muskegon. John began his life long career as a Police Officer in 1965 starting with Norton Twp. P.D. until 1966, when he went to Muskegon Hts P.D. for the next 30 years retiring at the rank of Lieutenant. After 2 years of retirement, he accepted an appointment with N. Muskegon PD as Chief of Police for 5 years and retired a 2nd time to present. He was an active member of the Charles D. Hammond Post of the Fraternal Order of Police. SURVIVORS include his wife, Terrie; 3 children, Jay (Sherry) Puisis and Sharon Puisis all of Norton Shores, and Joseph (Denise) Puisis of Muskegon; 6 grandchildren, Rob, Eric, John, Sherra, Brett and Joey; 1 brother, Edward (Tena) Puisis of Muskegon; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Ken Kieft; and his dog, “Mikey”. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, November 19, 2005 at the Sytsema Funeral Home, 737 Apple Avenue, (231) 726-5210, with the Rev. James Carlson officiating. INTERMENT will take place at Norton Cemetery. VISITATION with John’s family will be 3-5 and 7-9 PM Friday. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to Hospice of Muskegon-Oceana.
