Johnny Lee Cooper's Obituary
Johnny Lee Cooper, age 56, passed away unexpectedly Monday, March 25, 2024. He was born March 10, 1968 in Grand Haven, MI to John D. and Marie A. (Rasey) Cooper. Johnny graduated from Fruitport High School in 1986. He worked as a machinist his entire career and most recently 14 years at Bil-Mac Corporation in Grandville. Johnny was a member of the Fruitport Eagles. He loved nature and being outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and camping. Johnny always liked to keep busy and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed help. He was a very social person and loved to make small talk. He knew everyone and was well-known in the community. He will be missed by all who knew him. SURVIVORS include his fiancée of 20 years, Catherine Holmes; three children: Lindsey (fiancé, Jordan Cahill) Cooper of Ionia, MI, Savana Cooper of Denver, CO, and Benjamin Cooper of Fruitport, MI; three step-children: Jennifer (Cody) Jacobs of North Muskegon, Casie (Lucus Leiter) Holmes of Muskegon, and Brandon (Alyssa) Holmes of Roosevelt Park; daughter-in-law, Amber Cooper of Charlotte, NC; 21 grandchildren; his mother, Marie Guerrero of Fruitport, MI; brother, Scott (Rikki) Cooper of Fruitport, MI; sister, Tracy Cooper of Grand Haven; step-brother, Bryan (Rhonda) Guerrero; many nieces and nephews; lifelong friend, Craig “Cliffy” Clark; and his loyal German Shepherd, Chase. He was preceded in death by his father, John D. Cooper; step-father, Tom Guerrero; son, John B. Cooper; grandson, Liam Holmes; and his longtime fishing buddy, Ed “Fast Eddie” Smith. A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM Friday, March 29, 2024 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S.
