I enjoyed John's company while he was a member of AMBUCS. I still have vivid memories of playing poker with John at Bob Doll's house and the time he arranged to have the McDonald's bus take a group of us to East Lansing to watch an MSU football game. Maryan, Dale and Bill: My thoughts and prayers are with you. I have not seen John or any of you the past few years but do still think of you. I had the pleasure of working for John at McDonald's as a part-time manager while in college about 40 years ago when you first came to town. John was a great boss, and I was fortunate to be able to maintain some contact over the years. I will miss him and his infectious laughter and sense of humor as well as his sincere concern and kindness.

Dale and Bill: I have such fond memories of Sherman McDonald's. I can still remember my first day. (June 1977) I was placed on the shake machine during a Friday noon rush. As the shakes were exploding, John B came to my rescue. He didn't say much but helped me to get things under control. My five years at the Sherman store were the best. Memories of John filled my mind all week-end for some reason, and when I read of his passing in the paper this afternoon it sadden me greatly. I remember when we watched the Kentucky Derby together on TV a few years ago. What a treasured time that was. He so loved the horses and the big hats on the ladies. We had such a good time. My thoughts and prayers are with you Mrs. B, and Dale and Bill. Know that John and your entire family will always hold a special place in my heart. May God help you all through this most difficult time.

I appreciated being just a small part of John's life while working at McDonald's. Many times I had break downstairs with him while he did his share of any book work. The aroma of his pipe still clings to me today. He was always good to me. I've thought about him often through the years (just lately as a matter of fact)whenever we get a big snow storm. I remember he purchased me (Apple Ave store) a new snow blower to use after the blizzard of 1978. It was an honor to know him! My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.
