John R. Ferris' Obituary
Mr. John R. Ferris, age 74, of Muskegon died Thursday, September 9, 2010 at his home. He was born in Big Rapids, MI on November 15, 1935 to Newell and Irene (Rasmussen) Ferris. Mr. Ferris retired from Lomac and had previously been employed for many years by CWC Textron. He loved woodworking and time spent with his family. On August 16, 2008, John married the former Joanne Amos and she survives him along with 5 children, Randy (Beth) Ferris of Grand Haven, Terry Ferris of Muskegon, Barbara (Jim Pieczynski) Wheeler of Muskegon, Darren Ferris of Muskegon and Vicki (Craig) Hiltz of Montague; 12 grandchildren, Will, Lauren, Lauren Ann, Patrick, Brian, Emily, Joe (Jenny), Jason (Kristy), Jennifer, Justin, Derek and Brittney; 4 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, Richard (Jackie) Ferris, Ralph (Doris) Ferris, Tom (Jean) Ferris and Roger Ferris and a sister, Margie (Ron) David. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kimberly Ferris; a sister, Joanne Gauthier and a brother, Donald Ferris. SERVICES will be 11:00AM Monday, September 13, 2010, at The Walburn Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. 231-759-8565 with Rev. Rick Ferris (Ravenna Free Methodist Church) officiating. VISITATION will be from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Sunday at the funeral home. INTERMENT will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. MEMORIALS in John’s name may be made to The Lemonade Stand of Muskegon – a drop in facility for Mental Health Consumers.
