Jon W. Renkenberger's Obituary
Jon W. Renkenberger, age 56, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. Jon was born in Grand Rapids, MI on May 9, 1969 to William and Dona (Beam) Renkenberger. He attended school in Grandville and moved to Muskegon as a teenager. Jon worked at D&W for several years where he made lifelong friends. He later worked at Hanes Exterminating and became a valued member of the Hanes family during his 25 years with the company. Jon enjoyed both his coworkers and customers. Jon married Diane M. Leafers on June 17, 2011 and was a devoted husband. Jon and Diane were blessed with a herd of dogs and cats over the years. Jon had a soft spot for animals since childhood and found a kindred soul in his wife. Jon was an avid reader and enjoyed camping, kayaking, golfing, fishing, and travelling. He loved visiting Florida, Alaska, and Virginia, where his parents and sister lived. Jon was a true and loyal friend and loved spending time sharing his outdoor hobbies or socializing at the Lakeside Vets Club or the Vikings Lodge. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife, Diane Renkenberger; his father, Bill Renkenberger; his sister, Linda (Lanny) Tinsman; his mother-in-law, Pat Rolf; his father-in-law, Tom Leafers; 2 brothers-in-law, Joe (Jen) Allore, Jim (Lisa) Allore; his sister-in-law, Julie Mitchell; several special nieces and nephews, and his beloved cats. Jon was preceded in death by his mother, Dona Renkenberger. A Memorial Service will be held 12:00 PM Friday, June 27, 2025 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey Street, Norton Shores, MI 49444. Following the service, a luncheon and celebration of Jon’s life will take place at the Viking Lodge, 3132 Lakeshore Drive, Muskegon, MI 49441.
