Jon E. Ryan's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we must say goodbye to Jon E. Ryan. He suddenly and tragically passed away at home in Spring Lake at the age of only 61. He was born in Inglewood, California on October 19, 1961, to Donald and Yvonne (Sammons) Ryan. Jon lived in many places in the United States including California, Ohio, Texas, Washington, Oregon and Arizona before moving to Michigan in 2016.
Jon married Barbara Wilson on November 24, 1998, in Tucson, Arizona. On February 15th they would have celebrated the 25th anniversary of their first date. Jon was loved by many, as he would do anything for anyone. His keen sense of humor and wit kept his beloved wife laughing during their quarter century together. His generous, loving spirit will be missed by everyone who knew him, including his co-workers and customers at the Orchard Markets Deli in Spring Lake, and before that at Meijer. As a caregiver for many years in Arizona, he shared his kind-hearted spirit with his clients and their families.
Jon is survived by his wife, Barbara Wilson Ryan, his siblings Ronald Ryan, Laura (Greg) McKeehan, and Suzanne Ryan all of Tucson, AZ and his stepson, Greg Johnson. He is also survived by his Mother-in-law, Jacqueline Wilson, sisters-in-laws Paula (Steve) Padar, Penny (Roger) Babb, Kay (Dion) Chilberg and brother-in-law Pat (Kim) Wilson, son-in-law Andrew Connolly, many nieces and nephews and cousins from across the country. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, infant sister Vivian, father-in-law Hazen Wilson, and his adored stepdaughter Jennifer Johnson who died on March 11, 2022.
A private family graveside service will be held, followed by a celebration of Jon’s life in the summer of 2023. He loved animals, especially cats and dogs. Anyone who wishes to make a memorial contribution in Jon’s honor, please consider one of the following animal shelters: Harbor Humane Society, Heaven Can Wait, Faithful to Felines or a shelter of your choice.
