Joni Marie Smith's Obituary
Joni Marie Smith (Beebe), age 56, of Spring Lake, passed away February 25, 2010 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 27, 1953 in Grand Haven to Edward L. and Elizabeth “Betty” (Donahue) Beebe.
Joni attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from Spring Lake High School in 1972. She married Jimmy L. Smith from Jasper, Alabama on January 5, 1973 in Grand Haven. They just celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary together. Joni loved being with her grandchildren and working outside with her husband, Jim. She enjoyed going to yard sales, flea markets, and attending bingo games with her husband and little sister, Lisa. She collected a variety of antiques, beanie babies, and porcelain dolls. She also loved watching football and baseball games. Joni worked in Adult Care Facilities for many years.
Joni is survived by her husband Jimmy, 1 son, James (Tori) Smith with their children, Desi Gilmore, Felishia and Dakota Smith; 2 daughters, Jennifer (Bill) Schippers with their children, Billy, Elizabeth, and Johnathon Schippers; and Jamie (Josh) Baldus with their children, Avery, Ashlee, Alex, and Adam Eldred; her father, Edward L. Beebe; 3 sisters: Ginny (Scott) Pitts, Teresa (Mark) Brand, and Lisa Beebe; 1 brother Edward T. Beebe, and 1 brother-in-law Mike (Angie) Damouth. She is also survived by aunt Babe (Lou) Cuffee, a special friend, Dorothy Raha, and several nieces, nephews, and many caring family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Elizabeth “Betty” Beebe, her brother John, mother and father-in-law, Frances Amon and George Smith, her sister-in-law Ann Smith, uncle John H. Beebe, aunt Dot Decan, aunt Pat Haycook, uncle Charlie Smith, cousin Lori Kolkema, and nephew Nicholas Garwood.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spring Lake with Rev. Fr. Daniel DePew Presiding. Visitation with the family will be held 1 hour prior to the service at church. Memorial contributions to the family are appreciated.
