Jose Rivera's Obituary
Mr. Jose Rivera, age 89, died Thursday morning, April 14, 2011, in Muskegon. Jose was born February 29, 1922 to Jose and Rosa (Gonzales) Rivera in Puerto Rico and has resided in the Muskegon area since 1951. On Sept 21, 1954 he married the former Sally Sanchez and she preceded him in death on June 7, 1998. Jose retired from CWC Foundry after 22 years of service. SURVIVORS include 6 children, Ricky Lee (Sandy) Rivera, Jose Antonio (Donna Knight) Rivera, Margarita (Daniel) Rivas, Josephine (Jose) Melgoza , Angela (Randy) Sheffer and MaryAnn (Javier) Vega; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 8 brothers, Miguel, Ediberto, Felipe, Maximino , Jose Antonio, Cecilio, Modesto and Ceveriano Rivera and 1 sister, Margarita DeJesus. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Aida Farkas; grandson, Angel Reyes, 3 sisters, one of whom was Sara Torres, and by 2 brothers, Alberto and Ricardo. FUNERAL SERVICE will be 11AM Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey Street 231-798-1100 with Rev. Carlos Ramos officiating. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION with the Rivera Family will be 2-4 & 6-8PM Monday. For a more lasting memorial, you are asked to consider Shoreline Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
