Mr. Joseph "Joe" Benedict's Obituary
Joseph “Joe” Benedict, age 103, of Muskegon, died December 4, 2020. He was born on October 5, 1917 in Chicago, IL to Joseph and Rose Benedek. He married the former Marilyn Miller on July 22, 1944 in Ludington, MI and she preceded him in death in 1999. Mr. Benedict graduated from technical school in Chicago and served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. He worked in maintenance at Brunswick until his retirement in 1983. He was a kind, loving man of few words who especially enjoyed when his grandchildren and great-grandchildren came to visit. He is survived by two sons: David Benedict and John (Marlene) Benedict; daughter-in-law: Jone Benedict, all of Muskegon; grandchildren: Amanda Taylor, Chris (Abi) Benedict, Josh Benedict, Stephen Benedict, Mark Benedict, Jolene (Lynn) Robinson, Mike Benedict and Kim Benedict; great-grandchildren: Alyssa and Alexis Taylor, Trent Benedict, Braelynn Benedict, Colt Benedict, Mikayla Benedict, Kelcy Benedict, Emeline Benedict, Colton Benedict, David Visger and Cassandra Visger; and great-great-grandchildren: Charlynn and Benjamin. He was also preceded in death by two sons Stephen and Michael Benedict; his parents; sisters Frieda and Hilda; and brother Will. The family would like to thank the staff at Hillcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Community, North Muskegon, especially Chad, for the loving care Joseph received while a resident.
