Joseph "J.R." Biksacky's Obituary
Joseph “J.R.” Biksacky, age 73, of Muskegon, passed away on January 25, 2023, following a short illness. J.R. was born in Muskegon, MI in 1949 to Joseph II and Margaret (Maxin) Biksacky and was a lifelong Muskegon resident. He married Shirley in 1987 and had daughter Lauren, son Joseph IV, stepdaughter Hilary, and grandchildren Alec and Morgan. He was a great dad. Throughout the years, he also always had his Chow Chows by his side.
He graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central in 1967 and Grand Valley State University in 1971. He started his career as a middle school teacher, but his passion was always cars. He opened J.F.B. Cars shortly after college and soon made that his full-time work, along with J.F.B. Body Shop (on Getty St. and Peck St. respectively).
J.R. was happiest when he was racing his Corvettes and he was good at it. Every weekend in the summer, the family would pack up the motor home and drive around the Midwest for low speed, high speed, and drag racing events with the National Council of Corvette Clubs (N.C.C.C.). Between 1990 and 2000, he was an eight-time Michigan Region Men’s #1 Champion and a two-time N.C.C.C. National Drag Record Holder. He looked forward to attending the annual N.C.C.C. convention every summer. From the photos and stories, he and his friends (whom he gave unique nicknames) knew how to have a good time. He was a funny man, and his jokes were often irreverent. He didn’t take his fashion cues from anyone. Much to the embarrassment of his kids when they were young, he could easily be spotted racing or attending their sporting events because he was always shirtless, with tanning oil and wearing daisy duke jean shorts that he had custom tailored to his desired length.
Although he had not raced Corvettes for the past few years, he was at no loss for hobbies. He loved to be around people. You could always find him with the Royal Corvettes of Western Michigan (member since 1971), Muskegon Coin Club (member since 1961), or at the Farmer’s Market. He saw his favorite band, The Rolling Stones, perform live in concert seven times. He loved “collecting” pretty much everything.
His family asked him to retire. He wouldn’t give it up. He said his business gave him purpose and kept his mind working. For over 50 years he ran J.F.B. Cars, up until the day he got sick. That was the way he wanted it.
A private service will be held for immediate family, but the family expects to host a celebration of life in the spring. If you would like to receive those details once arrangements are made, please email JRBiksacky@gmail.com. (His family will check the email account). In the meantime, celebrate J.R. in some small way—drive a fast car, have a tall glass of orange juice (his favorite drink up until his last moments), tell a funny joke or watch a comedy, dust off and admire your favorite collectibles, cherish your dog, or play your favorite song by The Rolling Stones.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the National Council of Corvette Clubs Scholarship Fund in memory of J.R. Biksacky (checks payable to National Council of Corvette Clubs) and mailed to:
