Joseph "Bud" Rose's Obituary
Joseph “Bud” Rose, age 88, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2024. He was born January 23, 1936 in Muskegon to Harmon and Lila (Brown) Rose and was a lifelong resident of the area. Bud worked over 30 years as a machinist at Teledyne-Continental Motors and was also the owner and operator of Rose Construction for many years. On August 15, 1986, he married Dolly Jean Smutz in Fruitport and she survives him. Bud was a member of Calvary Church and it was Bud’s greatest accomplishment in life that he could see his whole family living for and serving the Lord Jesus Christ. Survivors include his loving wife, Dolly J. Rose; his children, Kim Joseph (Barbara) Rose, Bruce Alan (Becky) Rose, Brenda Rose (Andy) Bixby, Gary Alan (Debbie) Rose, Michael Thomas (Nancy) Rose, Mark David (Rachel) Rose; his step-children, David Alan (Lynn) Smutz, Paul Stephen (Janna) Smutz, Daniel Brian (Jennie) Smutz, Deborah Kay (Mike) Spry; 41 grandchildren and 60+ great-grandchildren; his sister, Betty Raifsnider; and his sister-in-law, Donna Esch. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Elaine Rose in 1985; his parents Harmon and Lila Rose; and his siblings, Cecil, Everett, Darrell, Charlotte, and Irene. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:45 PM Sunday, December 8, 2024 at Calvary Church, 213 Oak Street, Fruitport, MI 49415, with Bud’s son, Rev. Bruce Rose officiating. Visitation will be held 1:00-1:45pm Sunday at the church. Interment will take place later Sunday afternoon at Pine Hill Cemetery in Fruitport. Memorial Contributions may be made to Calvary Church.
