Joseph C. Burda's Obituary
Joseph C. Burda, age 85, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2019. He was born on September 21, 1934 to Joseph P. and Nellie (Ryktarsyk) Burda in Detroit. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked in the banking industry for 44 years until his retirement in March of 1999. Joe loved adding to his numerous collections at flea markets, anything western or turn of the century would catch his eye. He was a devoted and loving family man; time spent with his kids and grandkids was dear to his heart. Joe is survived by his wife of 21 years, Sharon Burda; children, Christi (Roy) Burda Pearman, Cheryl Burda, Dana (Steven) Groothuis, Timothy (Kimberly) Gould; grandchildren, Lauren, Maddie, Marissa, Bradley, Eli, Tommy, Tony; sister, Sally (Richard) Piotrowski; several nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeffrey Burda; former spouse, Janet Mulholland Miller; and nephew, Gene Piotrowski. A MEMORIAL SERVICE for Joe will take place on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 11:00 AM at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St. Norton Shores, MI 49444 with visitation taking place one hour prior to the service. For a more lasting memory, donations in Joe’s name can be made out to the Harbor Hospice Foundation.
